Removal and installation of the gauge of a reserve of fuel and the fuel pump
At BMW 5th series in each compartment of a fuel tank is on one gauge of a reserve. For check of gauges they are necessary for removing. In the gauge on the right party of a tank there is a fuel pump (the tank pump). For pump removal it is necessary to remove the right gauge.
Removal
Watch necessarily good ventilation of a workplace. Fuel steams are poisonous. Do not use open fire, do not smoke. Danger of occurrence of a fire! Keep in readiness the fire extinguisher.
| | For removal of the gauge of a fuel tank fuel should be merged. For this purpose pass on the car, completely having spent fuel or pump out its pump. Fuel steams are poisonous. Do not inhale them. It is recommended to spend work in the open air. |

| 1. Disconnect a cable of weight from the storage battery. The battery is in a luggage carrier behind the right lateral facing.
2. Remove a back seat, address to Section Removal and installation of a back seat. |
3. Squeeze out rubber plugs at the left and on the right under a seat. Cut a sharp knife floor-mats at the punched line and unbend. Address to an accompanying illustration. |

4. Turn away bolts of fastening and uncover with consolidation. Address to an accompanying illustration. |

Removal of the right gauge of a fuel tank from the fuel pump
|
1. Turn away bolts of fastening and uncover (1). Address to an accompanying illustration. |

2. Расстыкуйте tips (1) and (2). For this purpose open clamps. Address to an accompanying illustration.
7 Mark fuel hoses (3) and (4) sticky tape and disconnect them from the gauge of a fuel tank, having opened collars.
| | The fuel system is under pressure. Therefore a hose remove cautiously. The flowed out fuel wipe a rag. |
8 Cautiously turn on blows накидную a nut (5). Repair trucks apply for this purpose tool BMW 16 1 020. It can be made also by means of wooden бруска. Formation of sparks is not supposed thus. |

3. Lift the gauge, incline it aside and take out. Thus enclose a rag and wipe the flowed out oil. |
4. Compress the holder of the fuel pump (the black case). Take out the pump from a pot (the white case). Address to an accompanying illustration. |

5. Disconnect from the fuel pump both tips (1). Address to an accompanying illustration.
6. Open collars (2). Open a collar of a spiral hose. Cautiously disconnect a hose from the fuel pump.

| Cable collars are located at height of white marks. Pay attention to it at installation. |

Removal of the left gauge of a fuel tank
|
1. Turn away bolts of fastening and uncover (2). |
|
2. Disconnect the tip of a fuel tank. For this purpose open clamps.
3. Disconnect a fuel hose from the tank gauge, having opened collars.
| | The fuel system is under pressure. Therefore a hose remove cautiously. The flowed out fuel wipe a rag. |

5. Lift the gauge. From the bottom party compress two clamps of a pipe of the pump and remove a pipe. Take out the gauge of a fuel tank. Thus enclose a rag and wipe the flowed out oil. |

Installation
| | Sealing rings of the gauge of fuel necessarily replace with the new. |
|
| 1. The left gauge of a tank:
18 Insert the gauge and hold it approximately in 5 sm over a tank. Insert a pipe into the pump.
The right gauge of a tank:
19 Fix the fuel pump at the gauge of fuel and attach hoses. |
2. For an exception of warps before installation of the gauge of a tank expose a spiral hose and a cable (2) between the gauge of level (1) and the fuel pump (3). Address to an accompanying illustration. |

3. Expose the tank gauge. Thus the pad at the top part of the gauge of fuel should enter into a groove at a tank. The gauge should settle down vertically in a tank. Днищевой measuring щуп should be in a groove of the bottom of a tank.
4. Fix накидную a nut the moment of 35 Nanometers. Thus the rotary lock should be fixed distinctly in corresponding sample on a tank.
5. Put on fuel hoses according to the put marks and fix their new collars.
6. Join tips and fix them.
7. Establish a cover and fix it. Pay attention to correct position of consolidation.
8. Establish a back seat.
9. Attach a negative cable to the storage battery. Establish hours. Program radio receiver stations.
10. Check up work of the index of a reserve of fuel on the panel of devices. |
