BMW 5 series E39

1. The relay of the fuel pump (2) is at on the right in a luggage carrier behind facing, over an accumulator room of batteries. Address to an accompanying illustration. It supplies with an electric current the fuel pump. By means of the safety switch it stops fuel giving if at the included ignition impulses of number of turns of the engine do not arrive. If for check of system of injection it is necessary to start the fuel pump, without starting the engine, disconnect the relay and connect a short wire of the plug 30 and 87b (the Diesel engine: the plug 87). Diameter of a wire of 1.5 mm.

For check of the relay of the fuel pump the storage battery should be charged.

2. Check up a safety lock of system of injection. The arrangement of safety locks is shown on a cover of the block of safety locks.
3. Disconnect the relay of the fuel pump.

4. Connect a short wire of the plug 30 and 87b (the Diesel engine: the plug 87). Address to an accompanying illustration. Do not damage thus sensitive contacts of the relay. If the pump works, replace the relay. If the pump does not work, check up the wires going to the relay and the fuel pump. If necessary replace a wire.

5. Check up the relay / the fuel pump, address to Sections of the Relay and relay Check.
