Compression check

The compression provides guidance on an engine condition, namely about degree of deterioration of valves and pistons (piston rings). Besides, on the basis of the data received as a result of check of a compression, it is possible to judge necessity of replacement of the engine or its repair.

For check carrying out it is required компрессометр.

For the diesel engine it is necessary компрессометр with the big range of measurement.

The basic indicator of a compression is the difference in pressure in separate cylinders. The difference of pressure in separate cylinders should be no more than 1.5 bar. If this value exceeds 1.5 bar it specifies in damages of valves, deterioration of piston rings or a cylinder surface. At achievement of a limit of deterioration the engine is subject to repair or replacement.

At petrol engines it is necessary to turn out spark plugs. It is recommended to combine it with planned replacement of candles. At diesel engines for compression check candles накаливания are turned out.

Value of pressure of compression is of secondary importance, since. It depends among other from applied компрессометра. For petrol engines pressure should make not less than 10 bar, at diesel engines not less than 20 bar.

Check condition is the charged storage battery.

For compression check the petrol engine is necessary for warming up, the diesel engine can be cold.

The petrol engine

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Start and warm up the engine. The index of temperature of a cooling liquid should show the corresponding temperature. Stop the engine, switch off ignition.
2. Remove a box of the filter of pure air on the right in an impellent compartment, looking in a movement direction that it was possible to reach electronics box.

3. Turn away screws of fastening and uncover boxes of electronics (1). Address to an accompanying illustration.
4. Remove the main relay (1) DME (Digital electronics of the engine) that during check there was no fuel injection. (2 - safety locks of the engine for DME). Address to an accompanying illustration.

5. Remove all spark plugs.

Establish РКПП in neutral position and tighten a lay brake. Some times turn a starter the engine to remove from the engine a waste of products of combustion and soot.

6. Press or screw компрессометр in an aperture for a spark plug according to the instruction on its operation.
7. Ask the assistant to press a pedal of gas and to keep it during check.
8. Turn the engine approximately on eight turns so that the device any more did not show pressure increase.
9. One after another check up all cylinders and compare the received values to the set.
10. After check end screw to the place of a spark plug, address to Section Check and replacement of spark plugs.
11. Establish the main relay, close the block of safety locks.
12. Establish a box of the air filter.

The diesel engine

PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Remove a box of the filter of pure air on the right in an impellent compartment, looking in a movement direction that it was possible to reach electronics box.

2. Turn away screws of fastening and uncover boxes of electronics (1).

3. Disconnect the relay of preliminary heat, its working position address to Section Check, removal and installation of candles накаливания
4. Disconnect an electric cable at candles накаливания and turn out candles a corresponding head.
5. Screw instead of candles накаливания компрессометр.
6. Press a starter and keep it until pressure on компрессометре will not cease to grow. Write down value of pressure. Remove pressure of compression one after another from all cylinders.
7. After check again screw candles накаливания, having tightened their moment of 25 Nanometers. Preliminary grease a carving with high-temperature paste “CRC”.
8. Fix the moment of 5 Nanometers cables on candles накаливания.
9. Establish the relay of preliminary heat.
10. Close electronics box. Establish a box of the filter of pure air.
